Education – Under the Lordship of Christ #2
The Scriptures are almost silent on schools, but have a lot to say about knowledge, understanding and wisdom. From this, we can draw clear understandings about how Christian parents are called to nurture their children. Children need to see and understand the Fatherhood of God; the Pre-eminence of Christ and the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit. They need to be equipped to live lives as responsive and responsible disciples of Jesus Christ.
What does this mean for our children when they spend between 16,000 and 20,000 hours in an intentional learning environment – whether that be home-school; our local government school; a Christian School or an independent school? How do we, as parents, make crucial decisions about the education of our children? Our educational choice needs to be intentional and positive.
Over three Sunday evenings, Brian Cox will lead us through some key “Education Issues” in light of the Lordship of Christ and our role as parents in their education and upbringing. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
May 31 – Education – What is it and why is it important?
June 28 – Education – Where should it take us?
July 26 – Education – Who can help us on the journey?
For more than 40 years Brian Cox has taught elementary, High School and University students. He became committed to Christian Education more than 30 years ago. This led to pioneering a Christian school in Australia which expanded to two campuses and more than 800 students. Brian then spent about six years working as a Regional Director for Christian Schools in three states of Australia working with parents; school boards and professional development for teachers. Brian and his wife, Maureen, made the move to Indonesia in 2002 where they worked with the Pelita Harapan Foundation developing Christian Education in schools and universities.
Come and join in the conversation!
The evenings will begin at 5:30pm with a shared tea and conclude around 7:30pm. Children will be supervised during the time of input and interaction.
