To Glory In God ~ 9-11 October 2015

Published October 8, 2015 by Ray Bell in Next Sunday

Darian Jones will be speaking to us this weekend on the theme of glory. He writes, “What is it the world is repelled by and cannot face? What has been given to the church but cannot be defined? The answer is true glory. This true glory is the glory of God’s being, his revealed holiness, which is not merely notional, but relational. It cannot be gained through our efforts but is given and revealed to us through Christ and his cross. Charles Spurgeon put it this way: “You will never glory in God till first of all God has killed glorying in yourself.” What then does it mean to Glory in God? Why do we need to Glory in God? How do we understand God’s Glory in what we call everyday life? How does God’s glory change our world? Where does God’s glory figure in our eternal hope? These questions are some of the many we may ask concerning the nature and purpose of God’s glory. It is these questions along with others that I seek to address, but more importantly, I ask that together, we are prayerfully expectant to have an encounter with the God of all glory.”
